Today we launch our weekly Dreamocracy in America videocast!

Why the obsession with De Toqueville?

As mentioned in our Creative Capital presentation, Alexis de Tocqueville came to the U.S, in 1831 to study our prisons and as a result analysed the political and social system here. Many of his observations, endure today as still relevant truths.

Our weekly conversations aim to pick up where De Tocqueville left off. We also want to give each guest an opportunity to dream and re-envision our democracy.

Today’s guest, Kristina Wong, has been a longtime activist advocating for more resources for the elderly and homeless in her Los Angeles neighborhood. Using unconventional approaches to organizing communities, she merges art and activism in amazing ways.

Right now, Ms Wong is leading a statewide network armada to create thousands of face masks for local hospitals, health workers and folks that have no other way to access them. I love that she calls these volunteers “Aunties” and “Uncles” who use their skills to benefit the most vulnerable among us.

You can join her “Auntie Sewing Squad” on Facebook. To support this effort, donate to @sendkristinawongmoney on Venmo.

As soon as we edit today’s video, I’ll post it below:

Enjoy!
