My Victory Garden is thriving. Lettuce celebrate!

I feel like I’m on the verge of despair but then I go out to the garden and it all melts away. Doubts, fears, and the uncertainty over how this whole crisis will play out have little room when seeds are constantly sprouting, little plants need transplanting, hungry leaves seek water, need weeding or nourishment.

I have three raised beds filled with the Three Sisters; Corn, Squash and Beans. The inter-relationship between these plants has been cultivated in the Americas since ancient times.

I also have three planters full of tomatoes, another filled with Italian Parsley and Basil. Hopefully I can build more beds for strawberries and peas soon. Right now, what’s poppin’ is a MOUNTAIN of lettuce.

These gorgeous heads of butter lettuce are being shared with family and neighbors. This bounty also cuts down on Vic’s trips to the market. We’ve been eating many a fine salad, all Yard-To-Table style.

Viva Victory Gardens!
