It captured my imagination and knitted together an entire community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Culture Clash, Bowl of Beings\" width=\"1080\" height=\"810\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wvhx5k6ZGfc?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>My mentor <a href=\"https:\/\/americanart.si.edu\/artist\/gronk-7232\">Gronk<\/a> did the set design, graffiti-inspired backdrops, a giant pizza slice that came down from the ceiling. Mister Ed, the cholo carpenter built out the wooden stage structures &amp; details. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0952685\/\">Del Zamora<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/archives\/la-xpm-1992-01-24-ca-787-story.html\">Chicano Secret Service<\/a> starred in Culture Clash&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FocZKDG5PKM\">Luchador Chicano<\/a>.&#8221; My dear amiga <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm0306388\/\">Minerva Garcia<\/a> co-starred in their &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.backstage.com\/magazine\/article\/chavez-ravine-41998\/\">Chavez Ravine<\/a>.&#8221; Past co-conspirator <a href=\"https:\/\/laloalcaraz.com\/\">Lalo Alcaraz<\/a> wrote for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pRtzHUcZdYo\">Culture Clash TV show<\/a> on Fox. At many levels, we&#8217;re all familia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Culture Clash are masters at capturing our Latinx Icons. Their portrayals crack open stereotypes and sacred cows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"CULTURE CLASH Chicano Activist in the 90s Meets Che\" width=\"1080\" height=\"810\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/QvE5MQ3rMw4?feature=oembed\"  allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The members of Culture Clash, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Herbert_Sig%C3%BCenza\">Herbert Siguenza<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Richard_Montoya\">Richard Montoya<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ric_Salinas\">Ric Salinas<\/a>, have collectively impacted our collective experience of Latinx-Pop Culture &amp; Theater like few others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"960\" height=\"551\" src=\"http:\/\/pocharte.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Herbert-Postcard.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-383\" srcset=\"http:\/\/pocharte.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Herbert-Postcard.jpg 960w, http:\/\/pocharte.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Herbert-Postcard-300x172.jpg 300w, http:\/\/pocharte.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Herbert-Postcard-768x441.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For all these reasons, it&#8217;s an honor to have Herbert Siguenza as our guest tomorrow on <a href=\"https:\/\/dreamocracyinamerica.org\/\">Dreamocracy In America<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fun Fact: Herbert used to live in my old loft on Santa Fe &amp; 7th after I moved into Gronk&#8217;s Pineapple Building on Spring Street. Richard Montoya lived on the ground floor of the Santa Fe building and used to host epic soirees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We used to all be such a social little community in DTSA, all along 7th Street from Grand to Santa Fe. It&#8217;s hard to not pine for those days of dinner parties and open salons.
